Entering and Closing Short Sales

In an StockMarketEye portfolio, you can open and close short positions.

Selling Short

1. To enter a short sale, click on the "Buy" button in the toolbar.

2. On the "Purchase Details" screen, click on the "Type" dropdown and select "Sell Short". Then enter the reset of the short sale information, such as Ticker Symbol and Shares.

3. When you have entered all of the information, click on the "Add" button. StockMarketEye will process the transaction and add the short position to your portfolio.

4. The short position is shown with a negative share balance. The sale value of the short position is added to your portfolio's Cash Balance.

Closing a Short Position

1. To close a short position, select the holding in your portfolio and then click on the "Sell" button in the toolbar.

2. On the "Lot Sale Details" screen, click on the "Type" dropdown and select "Cover Short Lot" (if not already selected). Then enter the reset of the cover information.

3. When you have entered all of the information, click on the "Add" button. StockMarketEye will process the transaction and close out the short position from your portfolio.

4. The short position is removed from the portfolio and the cost of the position deduced from your portfolio's Cash Balance.
